I, for one, am delighted with the arrival of Spring. Beautiful blossoms. Royals baseball. Going outside without bundling up. Glorious. Almost any excuse for venturing out is good one. Here are some of mine:
Spring is a feast for the senses. The aroma of flowering trees, the explosion of color, the melody of songbirds and the greetings of neighbors not seen through the cold, dreary days of winter.
Whatever the season, a trip to the zoo is always a treasure. On my visit yesterday, the resident Orangutan pictured above was enjoying the sunshine and a salad. And on a Spring-like day a few weeks ago, a trip to Art Alley in the East Crossroads presented new compositions by the amazingly talented KC Street Artists, one of my favorites of which is shown below.
The Blue Jay below, it seems, wanted in on the portrait of a Robin I was trying to make. No offense to the Robin, but I think the Blue Jay helped the photo. At the very least it made me smile. BTW, that’s a peanut in the Blue Jay’s beak.
I’ve missed being on our patio drinking iced tea and seeing the birds. Though they’re sometimes a nuisance and are unloved by many of my neighbors (which I totally understand), I love seeing the variety of woodpeckers that frequent our backyard, including the Hairy Woodpecker shown below.
One final Spring photo (for now) - a close up of one the hundreds of blooms on my neighbor’s trees. These blooms last a scant few days, but they are truly magnificent for those days.
I hope you’re enjoy Spring as much as I am. I love sharing my photos with you and really appreciate knowing when a photo brings you a bit of joy. As you may know, we sell photos at Art That Makes A Difference with 100% of the purchase price donated to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
My best wishes to you and yours.
